The Dawn of War series has greatly contributed to my adolescent love of Warhammer. When my friends had to pack their toy soldiers and go home, I could connect to the family computer and spend the remains of the day pushing my population pixeled in ridiculous wars in the digital field. No plastic required.
I know that we have all accepted collectively to forget Dawn of War 3, but the first and second episodes of the Grimdark RTS game were formative for a generation of players. I particularly remember to settle on the DLC Soulstorm, which added sisters of the Battle and the Black Eldar to the procedures, and spending hours directing my tiny troops towards victory.
However, Relic has not returned to the 41st millennium since the third poorly received entry in 2017. The developer crossed a lot of time at that time, releasing the age of Empires 4 and Company of Heroes 3, while separating from Sega in order to go independently with the financing of the External Investment Group Emona Capital. And it was this investment company that may have suggested that the next Relic game could be a return to Dawn of War.
Relic’s is full of relationships with games workshop
This index is in the form of a LinkedIn post by Dominik Dolenec, director partner at Emona. He shared photos of himself and his colleagues from Warhammer World, including a selfie with the famous space navy statue and the inimitable exhibition center, where the workshop games highlight its most beautiful armies and dioramas filling rooms.
“Great Visit to Games Workshop Plc in Nottingham,” he legend the post. “A big thank you to Owen Rees for sharing Warhammer’s magic with us! I can’t wait to deepen our partnership in the coming years. ”
There is a lot to take here, but the most important name of this post is Owen Rees, which is labeled. Rees is Games Workshop’s Group Head of Licensing, so he is responsible for collaborating with people like game developers on the creation of Warhammer video games. He played a similar role in the company since he left White Dwarf in 2007, and his own Linkedin profile explains that he was the project manager on no less than six Dawn of War (including DLC).
Dolenec’s post included the Biceps and Gamepad emojis, suggesting that he was working as video games. But he could represent all or part of the developers of the Emona portfolio, right? Why does this post suggest Dawn of War 4, rather than a game of Hardpace Baneblade: Shipbreaker Devs Blackbird Interactive?
In fact, I want this game.
Everything comes down to the Dolenec t-shirt, which appears in the corner of one of his photos. He seems to endure the Relic Entertainment logo, suggesting that he is in Nottingham in his name. He also confirms that we do not see things in the comments and it is, in fact, sporting Relic’s ridge.
In the distant future of the 41st millennium, there is only Dawn of War
This has enormous implications for the future of Relic and the Dawn of War series. Presumably, Relic cannot make more space games of space now Saber Interactive has taken this coat. Reforming a partnership with Workshop suggests that we can see a return to Dawn of War – Why would a high -level dog organize meetings in Warhammer World?
Relic could plan a new series taking place in the 41st millennium – or the age of the Sigmar universe, moreover – but at that time of constant suites and remasters, it seems unlikely. What could be safer for a newly independent studio than returning to its roots and giving people what they want in the form of a new Dawn of War game?
These meetings may be to discuss the authorization of the remakes of the original games, as suggested by Rélic’s new strategy.
This is not an open goal, however. Relic will have to be careful not to repeat the errors of Threequel and balance the new units and armed with Warhammer with the classic gameplay of the two original games. For fans, it is not worth worrying about whether the game will be good enough until it is really announced or in our hands. For the moment, all we can do is hope.
